Grassroots is committed to developing, training, mentoring and showcasing talent. Our overarching mission is to unify youth football in the communities we serve. While traditional youth football leagues operate during the fall, we provide unprecedented exposure during the spring and summer months; attracting the best high school coaches in the area. We aim to build well-rounded student athletes prepared beyond their career in sports.
Being in top condition and utilizing the correct drills is important to a football players' ultimate success. Our training and combines provide a high level instruction that will allow every participant to maximize their natural talent and reach their potential. We believe that the success of a player is determined by his mental preparation, physical dominance and drive to compete. These attributes, combined with speed, agility, strength, power, flexibility and conditioning are at the core of every great football player.
Grassroots does an excellent job of preparing young men for football at the high school level by exposing them to great competition and instruction. - Rashod Gillespie/Defensive Coordinator, St. John's College High School"The GYFL partners with local youth organizations to identify and select the best 12 through 15-year-old middle school players to represent All-Star teams in our various regions. Each week, we pit the best of the best from each county to play against each other, culminating in a championship game in late July.
Our professional staff is made up of current and retired NFL players, in addition to the areas top-ranking high school and youth club coaches. Games are played at state of the art facilities throughout the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia area.

This years talent pool is going to be like nothing you have ever seen. We are going to rank the top kids at every position at the end of the season based on stats and film and Mike Farrell of Rivals will be using our data to set his pecking order for the US Army Game. Brett Cooper of Junior Rank will be using Grassroots Stats to create the pecking order for the Marines Semper Fidelis Game. Under Armour has reached out to us about following our league to identify kids for the UA Game. Of course MD High and Wayne Yarborough will be at every game preparing to rank the next group for his site.
In addition, USA Football has partnered with us and will be making invites for the Team USA 15 and Under and 17 and Under Game. Football University will be leaning on us for recommendations to their Top Gun Camp. This is NOT the year to miss Grassroots in our opinion.
