National Championship..... Who Wants Another Ring?

Congratulations Team MD!

The 7th Graders won the the 2nd Annual

FBU National Championship.

The Road to the Dome is Complete.

The Question for now is............Who Wants Another Ring?

In 2012, we sent 3 Teams into the FBU National Championship Tournament!  The 6th Graders were only allowed to compete for a Mid Atlantic Regional Championship and were not allowed to go to San Antonio.  Trust and believe that they were ripped through the competition at Wilson High School like tissue paper and would have been the odds on favorites to win the National Championship at the 6th Grade level.

Our 6th Graders are now 7th Graders and will be coming back with a vengeance to get what is they believe to be theirs!!!  Will you be a part of that team and get your ring?  Open tryouts are for EVERYBODY in the 7th grade on July 27th!!!  Even the alums from last year will have to earn their spots this year.

We don't know who our current group of 6th graders will be just yet, but we can't wait to find out.  All rising 6th Graders need to answer this call and be at the tryout on July 27th.

Our 8th Grade Dream Team made it to the Elite 8 and lost in a shocker to Massachussets.  They were one of the most exciting and thrilling teams in the Tournament and should have been in San Antonio but were beaten fair and square.  Those kids are going on to high school and will be missed.

Our 7th Graders answered the call and are wearing Championship Rings as we speak!  The Goal is to repeat and do it in Grand Fashion!  The whole country will be gunning for us and we need to be locked and loaded to defend that title.  Just as with the rising 7th graders from last years 6th grade team, even the alums will have to earn their spots this year.  Will you be a part of the Maryland Dream Team and get a ring for yourself?  Open Tryouts are on the 27th of July at Gilman School in Baltimore from 10:00am - 2:00pm!!!!!  The FBU Registration page will be up over the next couple of days so that you can register.

The Official FBU Tryout was on July 27th at Gilman.  If you are unable to attend a tryout, but make the team based on GMAFL Fall League performance,  you will be required to pay the $35.00 fee by FBU in addition to the registration fee.  The last opportunity to tryout will be October 6th at the Grassroots Burning Sands Invitational invitational event.

2012 Dream Season Recap:

It was the single biggest event in Youth Football, period.

Two of the biggest events in sports, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament “March Madness” and the  Little League World Series, collided and the result was FBU’s National Championship.

64 Teams from all over the United States and Canada representing their State/Province  battlted in a single elimination tournament to see who would be the National Champion. 3 divisions, 8th grade, 7th grade and FBU added 6th grade this year to participate in the first two rounds.

There were over 6,000 athletes representing thousands of youth leagues participating in the Championship.

They played on a  National Stage on “The Road to The Dome” (finals played in San Antonio’s Alamodome the weekend of the US Army All-American Bowl)  to become the real National Champion.

All American Games (AAG) believes that the nation’s top football athletes have the right to compete against other top talent of the same caliber! Most top football athletes never get tested on a consistent basis. AAG built the U.S. Army All-American Bowl to allow the nation’s top high school football players to compete against one another. AAG created Football University’s 64 State National Championship and Regional Championship to allow the nation’s top 8th graders and top 7th graders the same opportunity! These opportunities prepare top athletes for the rest of their football careers and lives.

AAG partnered with the GYFL to identify, select, coach, and present not only the MD State All Star Teams, but also the Northern Virginia teams that will participate in this prestigious Tournament.  GYFL President Mike Anderson was named Regional Director for the Northern Virginia region, which means he will be responsible for the FBU Camp that is coming to Northern Virginia next summer, in addition to putting together the NoVA state All Star Teams.  Adding Nothern Virginia to the MD State All Star team responsibilities will allowed Grassroots to be in postion to influence the entire DMV region, and boy did we make it happen.

Grassroots selected a 6th Grade team, a 7th Grade team, and and 8th Grade team from the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia on one team.  We also selected the same age groups for the Northern Virgina regions.  Grassroots underclassmen (current 7th graders and 6th graders) were the first to be looked at to be members of the team, but there were 35 spots on 6 different teams so there were plenty of opporunities, even for those that did not make a Grassroots All Star Team last summer.

A number of kids that were idendified during our combines got good looks as well.  But the open call went out to all rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in the DMV!  We are reached out to HS coaches and youth club coaches that wanted to be a part of this unbelieveable experience.

Unbelievable was what it was!!!  The 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Northern VA Teams were very good represented the region.  The 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade MD Teams were insane.  The 6th Graders just mauled the competion during the regional round at Wilson and never looked back.  They are the Mid Atlantic Regional Champions over Northern Va, Central Va, and Eastern NC.

The 8th Graders had a dream team to end all teams and in a shocker, got beaten in the elite 8 by a less talented but well coached Massachusetts Team.  That team will go down is history as one of the best ever.

With that being said, the 7th Grade Team is the best team in the country and proved it on the biggest stage.  They decimated every team put in front of them.  First they dealt a crushing blow to Eastern North Carolina, then they ransacked Central Va.  Next the rout was on Chicago, and Massachuessets got punished.  In the Final Four South Florida was overwhelmed and in the Championship Game NW Lousianna was devasted in route to a 38 - 18 victory in the Alamodome on Internet TV for the whole world to see.
