SPRING GYFL LEAGUE
The Grassroots Youth Football League (GYFL) consists of 10 All-Star teams from Anne Arundel County, Baltimore Metro, Charles County, District of Columbia, Fairfax County, Howard County, Loudoun County, Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, and Prince William County.

We will be bringing Southern Maryland back in 2014 with our newly expanded B Division that will include other expansion teams that will be in the league for 2014.

The GYFL is a Spring Football League.  While traditional youth football leagues operate during the fall, we provide unprecedented exposure during the spring and summer months, attracting the best high school coaches in the area.

The GYFL is pleased to partner with local youth organizations to identify and select the best 12 through 15-year-old players to represent our All-Star teams. Each week, for at least two months, teams match up and play 11 on 11, full contact against the best of the best from each county. Games are played on state-ofthe-art field turf at locations in DC, Maryland and Virginia. It is a rare chance and amazing experience for players and High School coaches to see 5 games in one day, on one field with the areas best talent!

For 2013, we will have a Varsity League and a Junior Varsity League.  The Varsity will consist mainly of 8th graders and elite 7th Graders, while the Junior Varsity will consist mainly of 7th Graders and elite 6th Graders.  The Varsity will in essence be what the GYFL Fans have grown to love over the last 3 years.  It will consist of organizations created by and owned by the GYFL, such as the Anne Arundel County Wildcats, the Baltimore Metro Stallions, etc.

For 2013, the Junior Varsity league will consist of existing organizations that have a 12U equivalent, which encompasses youth in the 7th and 6th Grades.  The teams will be open to all players from different programs, coaches will be recruited from different programs, and players will where the helmets from whatever program they come from.  The Head Coaches will be from the partnering "anchor organizations" and the team will wear the uniforms of the anchor organizations.

Current JV committed organizations are the following (GORC from Anne Arundel County, Hamilton from Baltimore, Westlake from Charles County, HC Stars from Howard County, Loudoun County Eagles from Loudoun County, Montgomery Village Chiefs from Montgomery County, and Marlboro Mustangs from PG County).  We are open for other programs that show interest and will have a maximum of 10 clubs.  If interested in playing on a team or entering a team, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. For our Spring Leauge, we offer combines/mini-camps act as tryouts for the All-Star teams during the month of March. In early April, we select All- Star players from each region to play in the GYFL. Players practice throughout April to prepare for the April 20th opening day.  Each week, we move the tournament to a different elite High School venue to give each region an opportunity to be seen by area coaches.

Our Spring season will conclude on June 22nd with our North vs South Super Star Game and our season ending banquet on June 23rd.

GMAFL Fall League
In the Fall of 2013, we will offer a more traditional Fall League with 10 of the Top Youth Football Organizations in the DMV.  Details are being worked out as we speak, but when we announce the lineup it will be spectacular.  We are merging Grassroots with the Mid Atlantic Football League in order to bring the area a truly elite football league for the small percentage of the region that it is tailor made for.  Our Fall League will not compete with the traditional leagues that service the masses of youth football players and that we fully support.  The name of the league is the Grassroots Mid Atlantic Football League.

Current verbally committed clubs are as follows:

  • GORC Wildcats
  • Hamilton Tigers
  • Westlake Bulldogs
  • Howard County Stars
  • Loudoun County Eagles
  • Montgomery Village Chiefs
  • Marlboro Mustangs

We are open for other programs that show interest.  If interested in playing on a team or entering a team, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

We will begin evaluations for our Fall League in the month of July and begin to assign the top players at the 6, 7th, and 8th grade unlimited age groups to the youth clubs that have partnered with us.  Practice will begin in August and the regular season will run from the first week of September into the early part of November when our Championship Games will be held.

Immediately after the Championships, we begin our Post Season All Star component of the program where we select the top kids from our Fall League to play on various All Star Teams from the Crab Bowl, to the Chesapeake Bowl, to Junior Rank, to the EastBay 7th and 8th Grade All American Teams, to the Football University National Championship Teams for Maryland and Northern Va.  That tournament culminates with the Crowning of National Champions at the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels.  Our 7th Grade Maryland All Stars are the FBU National Champions for 2012/2013.
